United Way of Northern Santa Barbara County Appoints Mitch Massey as Chief Philanthropy Officer

Santa Maria, CA—May 13, 2024 —The Northern Santa Barbara County United Way is thrilled to announce Mitch Massey’s appointment as Chief Philanthropy Officer. This strategic addition will propel the organization’s philanthropic efforts to new heights by leveraging Massey’s extensive experience and connections.

“We created this position to capitalize on Mitch’s gifted talents, adding him to our already talented team to take our philanthropy to a major gifts level,” said Eddie Taylor, CEO of the United Way of Northern Santa Barbara County.

Mitch Massey has dedicated his career to connecting people and organizations, forging relationships that drive positive change. With a career spanning over three decades, he is widely recognized for his 16 years as a TV sportscaster at KSBY and KCOY. He then transitioned to the corporate sector, serving as a top executive at Heritage Oaks Bank (now Pacific Premier Bank) for 14 years. His commitment to philanthropy saw him lead a national consulting nonprofit agency in Newport Beach for seven years, where he coached other nonprofits on the Culture of Philanthropy. His most recent role was as CEO of the Foundation at Hearst Castle.

I have known Eddie since his early years with United Way, and there’s always been a natural connection and admiration. So, when he asked about joining his team in a philanthropy position, I couldn’t refuse,” said Massey.

Massey’s deep ties to the nonprofit world and extensive executive experience make him an invaluable asset to the United Way of Northern Santa Barbara County. He has twice served as board chairman for other United Ways, demonstrating his commitment to the organization’s mission.
